Economic growth of Mexico is largely due to international ports and harbors that dot the coast. Now, shipping in Mexico offers a higher income by the federal government. The fact that Mexico is only 5 international ports around the country to imports and exports at the lowest possible level. Maritime industry in Mexico is still experiencing a boost after the signing of NAFTA, which has brought a lot of imports and exports in Mexico. Completely new port was established to help manage the traffic overflow that caused all the business. This leads to the birth and development of medium-sized ports in the country, which are as follows:
1. Puerto de Altamira - As the closest deep water port in the United States, located in north-central Gulf coast, this port is very important for the implementation of NAFTA. Port growth of about 1363 commercial cargo ship calls to move 13.3 million tons of freight in 2008, is seen, due to privatization.
