Eight Immortals Is A Taoist Pantheon Of Deities
The Eight Immortals (Ba Xian) are eight Taoist saints in the pantheon of the gods, which are painted in many temples, public places and restaurants. They are usually represented by sea on a boat. Here are the Eight Immortals.
Lu Tung-pin: A famous Taoist patriarch, a legendary figure in history, and the patron of literature and hairdressers. He is depicted with a magical sword that dispels evil. Lu Tung-pin is often regarded as the leader of the immortals (as the true leader is Zhongli Quan).
Li Tieguai: The doctor and researcher, patient advocate, and the pattern of the magicians and astrologers. He is depicted with a magical pumpkin to medicine, and an iron bar. It looks like a beggar with a dirty face legs beard, unkempt, a gold ring on the head. The Jade Emperor gave him the immortality of his noble deeds are many.
Zhongli Quan: the patron saint of soldiers. He is represented with a magic fan (which can raise the dead) and the elixir of immortality. It looks like a great man with curly hair, whose entire body is tattooed. He is one of the oldest of the eight immortals, who considered their leader. There was a general during the Han Dynasty. He taught the Taoist alchemy, martial arts, and Xiang Zi healing.Han: he is a philosopher. He is portrayed as an attractive and cheerful young man who plays the magic flute, which bloom all. He had female characteristics for its beauty. It is considered the patron saint of musicians. He quit his job as a civil servant in the government, and he sought truth in the Tao.
