Gran Canaria Travel Guide

Gran Canaria is part of the Canary Islands. It has an area of ??nearly 600 square miles and is considered the largest area among the other islands. It is famous for its unique terrain, beautiful beaches and natural beauty of place.Geography
The capital of Gran Canaria, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is located in the northern part of the island. Gran Canaria is also considered a continent in miniature because of its diverse terrain and vegetation. The north of Gran Canaria is lush and full of vegetation, while the south is the complete opposite of a desert terrain. The inner part of Gran Canaria has a very mountainous terrain. Gran Canaria coast is more serious, but there are beautiful beaches that can be found in Playa del Ingles and Maspalamos.
History
The Europeans arrived in Gran Canaria in the 15th century and transformed the island into a commercial port. Historical records show that Christopher Columbus stopped at the port of Gran Canaria during your trip to America. The island has a few historic sites as the historic districts of Vegueta and Triana. Also located on the island is the historic cathedral of Santa Ana which was built over a period of three tourist destinations centuries.Famous
Tourists visiting Gran Canaria for its pristine beaches, but there are also other attractions that are on the island. Most resorts are on the coast at the southern tip of the island. Maspalomas is an exclusive complex that has several luxury hotels and a golf course next to the station. Sand dunes of Maspalomas has been declared a national park in 1994. The resort also has a couple of water parks Aqualand knowledge and Ocean Park. Just a few miles from Maspalomas Palmitos Park, where tourists can see a large collection of birds, an aquarium, a collection of reptiles and a butterfly farm. For a taste of the nightlife in Gran Canaria, tourists head to Playa del Ingles, which is the capital club Gran Canaria. Also on the south coast of the island's two major stations, including Puerto de Morgan and Puerto Rico. Puerto Morgan is a beautiful city with charming houses, a small fishing port and a picturesque harbor on a sandy beach.
The beaches are not only a tourist destination of Gran Canaria, there are also good places to see the interior of the island. Arucas is a pretty town, known locally produced rum Aruhuecas. The tourists make it a point of fall for the local distillery tour and tasting of some of the rum. Have also been found in Arucas is San Juan Cathedral, which was built in the 20 th century and has close resemblance to the famous Sagrada Familia in Barcelona. A few kilometers from the city of botanic gardens, where tourists can watch a wide range of local celebrations plants.Local
Tourists also flock to Gran Canaria, to attend the festival, as the Fiesta de la Rama Agaete in the city. This festival was born in the town Rain Dance. It is held annually in early August. Carnival of Gran Canaria is another tourist attraction. It happens every year in Las Palmas in February and March.
