Secret Voyage - Why Is Slowly Improving

This trip is not a secret secret, but you know why it is slow can mean savings and have more fun?
Our trip to The Top Secret is not really a secret at all, but it takes a while 'for some of us to learn and apply. Here it is: Slow down. Slow down and spend more time in different places is not the only secret to travel cheap, but in our experience, it means more fun.
Slow low-cost travel
We returned yesterday (August 13, 2007) from the voyage of ten days', and I can tell you that going slower will save us money, because they usually do not. This is not only driving less, but when we started to drive 200 miles a day instead of 600, undoubtedly saved the gas. There are, however, that the time on our hands, we could do a better job of shopping for a place to stay or eat.
Make a great day mile cross sections are those that boring. Then, when you get an interesting place to find a comfortable and convenient stay in time. Once, while driving across the country campers, we noticed the hot springs of the wild in Arizona, where the picnic tables and bathrooms, and hills of the desert to investigate - with plenty of time. It only costs $ 3 per night, so it was easy to stay at the same time.
In fact, we stayed for eight days, enjoying the hot pools, even during an exceptionally snowy day in the desert. We took daily walks and hunting for antiques and stones in the surrounding hills, but more on that in a moment. Just once, we drove to the nearest town for groceries and water, so the whole week would have cost $ 80 or more. Travel is cheap.
Five years ago, we ran into a great mountain town where we wanted to stay a while. We were in town at the beginning, instead of our regular training of the evening and are struggling to find a hotel, so we had time to check things without rushing. We asked around and heard of a hotel above a pub. Rest of hotel rooms in town were generally $ 60 per night per site, but we had a room overlooking the ad for $ 120 - for an entire week. He had a stove and refrigerator, so we can prepare our own food if we wanted to save more.
Slowing down will result in a better travel experience
More important than the fact that the slowdown means that the low-cost travel is that when you go slower, you'll find things you missed. While the hot springs mentioned above, for example, has been friends we have a Maya Indian who has led us to an old Pony Express station in the hills of the desert. There were still parts of the old walls remain.
He showed us areas where we can find old arrowheads, and we found some. In the middle of the desert, showed us a perfectly round hole in the rock that have been practiced for hundreds of years before. It 'was used for water storage. Our van, we followed him to the area where the ancient pottery filled with deserts, and where precious stones were found.
We could not find these things on their own. The experiment was only possible because we do not rush from one park to another, trying to fit as many "views" for a ride as possible. It can not be a secret that slow can be more interesting, but not many people seem to want to try this more relaxed, more slowly.
Where we stayed for a week and $ 120 in this mountain village, we find waterfalls and mountains of the Lake District that only known secret. The town was our base that we made excursions to the surroundings. Talk to people in local bars lead to a well-preserved ghost town that was not on our map. The streets were full of buildings and foundations, but not tourists - another vehicle pulled while we were there.
We travel a secret number one: slow down to save money and enjoy your trip.
