Crete Travel Guide

The Greek island of Crete attracts more visitors, this is a guide for the island, which is set to hot vacation spots
The Mediterranean island of Crete is a favorite of Europeans looking for a home remedy instead of second or retirement. The year-round sunshine and beautiful scenery, and is currently experiencing a development boom. Crete has more than 1,000 miles of coastline, is the largest island of Greece and the fifth in the Mediterranean, and is important historically as the cradle of the Minoan civilization and has many archaeological remains for visitors to see and explore.
Crete, about 160 km south of mainland Greece, has a population of almost 650 000 inhabitants, many of which are located on the north coast. A long mountain range crosses the island to the right towards the sea along the road a lot on the south coast, where there are several small towns and beaches. The climate is mild, and summers long and hot and winters are mild. In winter the snow in the mountains, and sometimes along the north coast of the island, but is rarely in the south.
The largest city of Heraklion on the island, with almost 150,000 inhabitants, followed by Chania, with 54,000 residents and Rethymno. Chania and Rethymno are the most popular destinations for tourists in the western part of the island. In the eastern half, Heraklion is the capital of business and commerce of the island, Agios Nikolaos and Sitia are popular tourist destinations.
Between Heraklion and Rethymnon is the small village of Panormos, on a new home development is under construction. Panorma waterfront homes all have sea views and private swimming pools and is located 50 meters from the beach houses here start at under 70 000 for a property with one bedroom, while the other three bedrooms can be run in 200,000. This development is a good example of the type of property available and almost new plan in this idyllic island.
Chania is a major tourist attraction in Crete. It has many places as well as landscape and climate, which is known to Crete. Chania has some of the best nightlife on the island, the capital city of Chania and Platanias, and places like Paleohora. Golden Beach is located a short distance from the center of Chania and offers a sandy beach for those who want to stay in this bustling city
The main airport of Crete, Heraklion International Airport, also known as the international airport Nikos Kazantzakis (HER), which serves many UK and European cities with daily, direct flights. Other international airport on the island of Crete is Chania International Airport (CHQ), which serves the west of the 'island. Number of airlines fly to both airports, making it an accessible destination. There are also ferries that travel to and from mainland Greece, often taking on a journey of one night.
