Lithuania - Travel Destination Of Choice
When people think of visiting Europe, you usually think of France, Germany and perhaps Italy and Switzerland.
Eastern Europe, surprisingly, was almost totally ignored. Today Lithuania is becoming one of the destinations that are cheap compared with Western Europe, and full of natural beauty, and visitors that alternately impressive and traditional charm. Lithuania was an independent nation for just over a decade and already has an active role in European politics. It has a long and colorful history, manifested in some of the catches glimpse the huge mosaic that is multi-faceted culture of this nation. Tourists can visit the sites of natural beauty as the Curonian Spit - a spit of land protruding from the western edge of Lithuania. Which houses an incredible variety of wildlife - birds, deer, elk and other animals dig through huge sand dunes and spectacular. On a bicycle can go all the way from one end - Nida - to another - Smiltyne.
Also, be sure to see Curonian Lagoon - a large body of water that sees a constant stream of ferries float through it. You can reach the lagoon by the sea from Klalpeda - one of the main ports in Lithuania. Spit, you can move north to the center of Palanga wild party, if it's summer. If it is winter in the same place you can relax in peace cozy. Wooden houses, ringing bells of bicycle and rode taxis (where else will you see those) charm tourists into thinking they are still somewhere in the 18 century. The southwest of Lithuania are full of old, rustic charm. Activities such as bird watching, sailing and cycling is very popular here. Finally, of course, do not forget the capital called Vilnius. This city is about as lopsided as it gets - something that is evident from the statue of Frank Zappa, of all people, full of artists and bohemians, it is the ideal place for a romantic geek, or just let your hair down.
But do not think that religion has no role to play here - there are several Orthodox and Catholic churches, and the arrangement of the whole city is in baroque style. Closer to today, the unrest in the 20th century, also wrote a generous hand in this city. The Soviet occupation and World War II has left scars all over, but the soldiers city with a spirit of renaissance and revolution. There is one warning I would give to people who visit Lithuania. There is a very real danger of information and sensory experiences to plan your trip well, even better, come for a long stay in the summer - it will be cheap and you can get all the activity you want .
