Cancun International Airport To Open New Terminal Next Month
These and other developments announced by Mexico Tourism Board CEO, Francisco Lopez Mena at Cancun Media MarketplaceCancun international airport will sport a new terminal next month, increasing the number of terminal servicing Mexico 2-3 in high places resorts. Mexico Tourism Board CEO Francisco Lopez Mena discussed these and other tourism development in Cancun in Cancun Media Marketplace in New York, a destination seminar for journalists. In addition to announcing a new terminal at Cancun, Lopez Mena also revealed plans for a new international airport in Tulum, with building rights, which is awarded to the winner of an imminent public offering. An expansion of the international airport of Cancun to Tulum and the other would greatly improve services to the Mexican Caribbean, whose destinations are welcome four in ten of international travelers to Mexico, Lopez Mena said.
Director General of Tourism of Mexico participated in the Cancun market media as part of a three-day tour with Tourism Secretary Rodolfo Elizondo to promote the first destination in Mexico. The visit included meetings with several tour operators, wholesalers and strategic partners, Gogo Worldwide Vacations, United States Tour Operators Association (USTOA) and Travel Impressions.
In addition, the main hosts travel magazine Conde Nast Traveler, a focus group with leaders of tourism in Mexico, meeting planners and travel agents specializing in high-end markets to discuss the luxury travel segment. Cancun has recovered quickly from hurricane damage incurred in late 2005, with the destination that offers luxury hotels new or renovated, extended range and many other improvements thanks to extensive government and private investment in destination.
